Vatican Approves Italian Bishops' Guidelines Allowing Chaste Gay Men in Seminaries Who Don't Support Gay Culture

The Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) has released updated seminary guidelines, approved by the Vatican, permitting homosexual men to train for the priesthood, provided they live in chastity and do not support the "so-called gay culture". The CEI emphasized that the Church cannot admit to holy orders those who practice homosexuality or promote gay culture. While some view this as a partial opening, the guidelines reaffirm existing norms established in 2016, indicating that official Church policy on the matter remains unchanged.
