VisitVanderbilt Nears Bowl Eligibility with 17-7 Win Over Auburn, First Sweep of Alabama Teams Since 1955
Nov 2, 2024, 07:50 PM
Vanderbilt University’s football team is on the verge of becoming bowl eligible with a 6-2 record after a significant win against Auburn. The Commodores led 17-7 with 4:18 left in the game, thanks to a 14-play, 78-yard drive that consumed nearly nine minutes of the fourth quarter. Auburn's attempt to close the gap failed as they missed a 52-yard field goal with just over two minutes remaining. This victory marks the first time since 1955 that Vanderbilt has defeated both Alabama and Auburn in the same season. Diego Pavia's performance, including a key touchdown pass to Eli Stowers, has been instrumental in Vanderbilt's success this season. Auburn, now at 3-6, was also penalized for a leverage call that gave Vanderbilt a new set of downs.
