VisitValparaiso University Allowed to Sell O'Keeffe Painting from Brauer Museum to Fund Dorm Overhaul
Sep 5, 2024, 12:18 AM
A county magistrate has ruled that Indiana's Valparaiso University can sell paintings from its Brauer Museum of Art to fund the overhaul of freshman dormitories. The decision includes the sale of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting and two other artworks, which were deemed not 'conservative' as required by the trust agreement. The ruling also amends the trust agreement. Jonathan Canning, former director of the Brauer Museum, has criticized the university for closing the museum.
