VisitUtah Officials Seek Help in Condor Killings Investigation Over Two Years
Jul 19, 2024, 09:30 PM
State and federal wildlife officials are seeking public assistance in an investigation into the illegal killing of two critically endangered California condors in southern Utah. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (UtahDWR) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) are requesting information after the birds were found shot and killed in the region over the past two years. The first condor was discovered in the fall of 2022 in a remote area southeast of Cedar City and north of Zion National Park. The loss of these two birds represents about 2% of the region's condor population. The investigation is being reported by Chase Martin.
