VisitUS Upgrades Ukrainian F-16s with Advanced Systems to Counter Russian Threats
Aug 27, 2024, 01:39 PM
The United States Air Force has upgraded the electronic warfare systems on Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets to enhance their capabilities against Russian air defenses. The 68th Electronic Warfare Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base and the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing have been involved in optimizing these systems. This includes utilizing the U.S.'s highly classified threat library to increase the survival chances of the jets and gather critical intelligence. The advanced systems provided to Ukraine are reportedly more sophisticated than those available to other NATO countries, making the F-16s more effective in countering Russian threats. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the deployment of these Western-supplied F-16s during a large-scale air assault on August 26 at the Ukraine 2024 Independence Forum.
