VisitUS and South Korea Sanction 11 Individuals and 15 Entities for North Korea-Russia Military Ties
Dec 17, 2024, 02:03 AM
The United States, South Korea, and other international entities have imposed new sanctions targeting North Korea and Russia for their military cooperation. The U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against nine individuals and seven entities for providing financial and military support to North Korea, including banks and military officials involved in the transfer of arms from Pyongyang to Moscow. South Korea has also introduced unilateral sanctions against 11 individuals and 15 entities, including high-ranking North Korean military officers and Russian companies facilitating arms trade. These measures come in response to the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia to aid in the war against Ukraine, with more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers reportedly stationed in Russia. The sanctions are set to take effect by December 19, aiming to curb the military partnership between North Korea and Russia.
