VisitUS Sanctions 19 Indian Firms, 2 Nationals, and 275 Individuals for Aiding Russia's War Efforts
Nov 2, 2024, 09:48 AM
The United States has imposed sanctions on 19 Indian private firms and 2 Indian nationals for allegedly aiding Russia's military-industrial base. The sanctions are part of a broader action targeting 400 entities globally, including dozens in India, for supplying technology to Russia. The U.S. State Department has accused these entities of supporting Russia's war efforts in Ukraine, with one entity allegedly providing US-made aircraft parts to Russia. In total, 275 individuals and entities are included in the sanctions for allegedly supporting Russia's military-industrial base. In response, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that India has a robust legal and regulatory framework on strategic trade and non-proliferation controls and is working with relevant departments to ensure compliance with international norms. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that the sanctioned transactions and companies are not in violation of Indian laws and that India is in touch with U.S. authorities to clarify the issues.
