US prosecutors have charged two men, owners of Empire Market, with operating a dark web marketplace that facilitated more than $430 million in transactions. The marketplace, which operated between 2018 and 2020, allowed people around the world to anonymously buy and sell drugs, stolen information, counterfeit currency, and other illegal goods and services. The charges were filed in federal court in Chicago, with the FBI Chicago, USPIS Chicago, and HSI New York involved in the investigation.
