VisitUS Prohibits Ukraine from Using ATACMS Missiles to Strike Russian Airbase with Su-34 Jets Despite F-16 Arrival
Aug 6, 2024, 09:16 AM
Ukraine had an opportunity to launch a significant strike against Russian aviation using US-supplied ATACMS missiles. The target included dozens of Su-34 jets parked at the Voronezh-Malyshevo airbase by the Russian 47th Guards Air Regiment in early summer. However, the United States prohibited Ukraine from using these missiles, effectively stopping the operation. This decision aligns with the US policy on restricting Ukrainian strikes deep into Russian territory with American weapons, which remains unchanged despite the arrival of F-16 jets in Ukraine, according to U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
