Aug 23, 2024, 02:35 PM
The United States has announced a significant expansion of its sanctions against Russia, targeting 400 individuals and entities both within Russia and internationally. These sanctions are aimed at those whose products and services support Russia's ongoing war efforts in Ukraine and help evade existing sanctions. The U.S. Treasury Department highlighted that more than 20 firms based in Hong Kong and China are included in these sanctions. Additionally, the U.S. government has added 123 entities to its export control 'Entity List,' which includes 63 entities in Russia and 42 in China. This move is part of a broader strategy to exert pressure on Russia's defense sector and its international supporters, the State Department said.
