VisitUS Boosts Rewards for Maduro, Cabello to $25M, Adds $15M for Padrino Amid Sanctions on Eight Venezuelan Officials
Jan 10, 2025, 03:43 PM
The United States has escalated its pressure on Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro and his regime by increasing the reward for information leading to his arrest on narcotics charges to $25 million. This action coincides with Maduro's inauguration for another six-year term. The reward for Diosdado Cabello, Venezuela's Minister of Interior, has also been raised to $25 million, while a new reward of $15 million has been set for Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López. Alongside these measures, the U.S. has imposed new sanctions on eight Venezuelan officials, including the president of the state-owned oil company Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), and other high-ranking officials involved in economic and security agencies. These sanctions, coordinated with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Canada, target individuals accused of enabling Maduro's repression and undermining democracy in Venezuela.
