The United States is significantly increasing its military presence in the Middle East in response to escalating tensions with Iran and its allies, Hamas and Hezbollah. The Pentagon has ordered the deployment of additional defensive assets, including fighter jets, warships, and ballistic missile defense-capable cruisers and destroyers. This move aims to bolster the defense of Israel and protect US forces in the region. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has informed his Israeli counterpart about these changes, which include the replacement of the USS Theodore Roosevelt with the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group in the Gulf of Oman.
