VisitUS Army Analyst Korbein Schultz Pleads Guilty to Selling Secrets to China for $42,000
Aug 14, 2024, 04:00 AM
A U.S. Army intelligence analyst, Korbein Schultz, has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to sell military secrets to China. The Department of Justice confirmed that Schultz was involved in a conspiracy to transmit national defense information, including classified data on U.S. military weaponry, to an agent in Hong Kong suspected of being associated with the Chinese Communist Party. Schultz's actions included handing over sensitive documents, such as those discussing the U.S. Army's lessons from the Ukraine-Russia war and their application in a potential defense of Taiwan. Additionally, the documents contained details about U.S. rocket systems and Chinese military tactics. The analyst received $42,000 in exchange for the information. Schultz was charged in March 2024 with conspiracy and bribery, and his guilty plea was entered in August 2024.
