VisitUS Agency Slams WADA After 23 Chinese Swimmers Test Positive, 3 Win Gold
May 4, 2024, 10:28 AM
The US anti-doping agency has criticized the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for its 'half-truths' regarding the handling of a doping scandal involving 23 Chinese swimmers who tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine before the Tokyo Olympics. WADA has been under scrutiny since last month when these violations came to light. Despite the positive tests, these athletes were allowed to compete, with three winning gold medals. In response, World Aquatics has set up a review committee to examine its doping-related procedures and ensure such oversights are addressed.
