Dec 19, 2024, 04:49 AM
UNLV defeated California 24-13 in the LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium, securing their first bowl victory since 2000 and finishing the season with an 11-3 record. Playing under an interim head coach, the Rebels' victory marks the first time they have won a bowl game outside of Las Vegas since 1984. UNLV's defense held Cal scoreless in the second half, turning away eight consecutive drives. Kylin James scored a pivotal 29-yard touchdown in the third quarter after a fumble recovery by Jett Elad, while Caden Chittenden added a 48-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Cal, operating with its fourth-string quarterback, struggled offensively against the Rebels. UNLV is expected to finish the season ranked for the first time in program history.
