Sep 12, 2024, 03:54 PM
Unity Technologies has announced the cancellation of its controversial Runtime Fee, which had faced significant backlash from game developers. The company will revert to its traditional seat-based subscription model but will implement price increases for Unity Pro and Unity Enterprise starting January 2025. Unity Pro will see an 8% price hike to $2,200 per seat, while Unity Enterprise will experience a 25% increase. Additionally, the free version of Unity will no longer include a splash screen, and the revenue cap for the Personal license will be raised from $100,000 to $200,000. Unity CEO Matt Bromberg stated that the reversal is part of an effort to become 'a fundamentally different company.' Unity Industry prices remain unchanged. The stock symbol for Unity is $U.
