VisitUnity Cancels Runtime Fee, Raises Pro Prices by 10%, Enterprise by 25%
Sep 12, 2024, 03:03 PM
Unity has announced the cancellation of its controversial Runtime Fee, which was widely criticized by the developer community. The company will revert to its previous seat-based subscription model but will implement price increases for Unity Pro and Unity Enterprise starting January 2025. The price of Unity Pro will increase by 10%, and Unity Enterprise will see a 25% hike. Additionally, there will be no more splashscreen for the free version. Unity CEO Matt Bromberg stated that this decision is part of an effort to become 'a fundamentally different company.' The move follows extensive consultation with Unity's community, customers, and partners.
