VisitUnited Airlines to Equip 1,000 Planes with Free Starlink Wi-Fi in 2025
Sep 13, 2024, 01:15 PM
United Airlines has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Elon Musk's SpaceX to provide free high-speed internet via Starlink across its entire fleet of over 1,000 planes. The airline plans to start testing the Starlink service in early 2025, with the first passenger flights likely equipped later that year. This move aims to enhance the in-flight experience by offering reliable, fast internet from gate to gate, allowing passengers to stream, game, shop, and more on both seatback screens and personal devices. United is now the largest airline to offer Starlink, setting a new standard for in-flight connectivity and potentially influencing other airlines to follow suit. The service will boost Wi-Fi speeds by up to 100 times and will be available at no additional cost to passengers. United is also the first major US carrier to adopt Starlink.
