The resolution received overwhelming support, with 152 countries voting in favor, while nations such as China, Russia, and North Korea opposed it. This marks the 31st consecutive year that Japan has introduced a resolution on nuclear disarmament. Additionally, Japan, in collaboration with Colombia and South Africa, submitted another resolution addressing the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons, which was also adopted by consensus during the UNGA plenary meeting.
