The United Nations General Assembly has overwhelmingly voted to demand an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The non-binding resolution also calls for the immediate release of all hostages and supports the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Additionally, the General Assembly adopted a second resolution reaffirming support for UNRWA amid challenges to its operations. The resolutions were adopted with 158 votes in favor, demonstrating significant international support for an end to the conflict. Australia, India, and Russia were among the nations backing the resolutions, and the United Arab Emirates welcomed their adoption.
