VisitUN: Every 10 Minutes, a Woman Killed by Partner or Family Member in 2023
Nov 25, 2024, 06:34 AM
A new report by UN Women and UNODC reveals that in 2023, an average of 140 women and girls were killed daily by an intimate partner or family member—totaling approximately 51,100 victims worldwide—while at least 85,000 women and girls were intentionally killed globally. The report highlights that the deadliest place for women is at home and emphasizes that "violence against women and girls is not inevitable—it is preventable," according to the UN Women Chief. The findings were released on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, urging collective action to end such violence.
