VisitUN Assembly Demands Immediate Gaza Ceasefire, Deplores Israeli Ban on UNRWA

The United Nations General Assembly, in a special emergency session, overwhelmingly adopted two resolutions related to the conflict in Gaza. The first resolution, A/ES-10/L.33, demands an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as well as the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. This resolution received 158 votes in favor, 9 against, and 13 abstentions. The second resolution, A/ES-10/L.32, reaffirms full support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), calls upon Israel to fulfill its international obligations and respect the privileges and immunities of UNRWA, and deplores the legislation adopted by the Israeli Knesset on 28 October 2024 that bans UNRWA's operations. This resolution was passed with 159 votes in favor, 9 against, and 11 abstentions.
