In a dramatic incident during Sunday's game at Yankee Stadium, home plate umpire Nick Mahrley was struck in the neck by a splintered bat from New York Yankees player Giancarlo Stanton. Mahrley was immediately attended to by medical staff and was carted off the field wearing a neck brace. The game was briefly halted as the umpire was tended to, and crew chief Marvin Hudson took over the duties behind home plate. The condition of Mahrley was not immediately known following the incident.
