VisitUMass Fires Don Brown After 2-8 Start; Shane Montgomery Takes Over Before Georgia Game
Nov 18, 2024, 04:38 PM
UMass has fired head football coach Don Brown after nearly three seasons and a 6-28 record in his second stint at the university. The Minutemen are 2-8 this season. Offensive coordinator Shane Montgomery has been named interim head coach for the team's final two games, including an upcoming game against Georgia this Saturday. Athletic Director Ryan Bamford expressed gratitude to Brown for returning to the program he once led to a national title game during his first tenure. Brown, a former two-time Broyles Award finalist as Michigan's defensive coordinator, is among seven in-season coaching changes this year at the Group of Five level.
