Ulrich Thomsen has been cast in the recurring role of Sinestro, a DC supervillain, in HBO's upcoming series 'Lanterns'. The series, produced in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. Sinestro, a former Green Lantern who turned rogue, is described as ruthless yet charming, with his manipulative nature driving his obsession with Hal Jordan. Thomsen joins previously announced cast members including Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, and Poorna Jagannathan. 'Lanterns' has been ordered for eight episodes and is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with James Hawes directing the first two episodes.
