VisitUkrainian Forces Withdraw from Vuhledar in Donetsk Region to Avoid Encirclement After 2.5 Years
Oct 2, 2024, 10:23 AM
Ukraine's military has announced the withdrawal of its forces from the mining town of Vuhledar in the eastern Donetsk region after 2.5 years of intense fighting. The Operational Strategic Group Khortytsia confirmed that the higher command authorized the maneuver to preserve personnel and military equipment and to reposition for further actions. Ukrainian troops, reportedly outgunned ten to one, have been defending Vuhledar against Russian forces, but increasing pressure and the threat of encirclement necessitated the withdrawal. Geolocated footage has confirmed that Russian forces now have control over all parts of the city.
