VisitUkraine and EU Condemn Russian Elections in Occupied Crimea from September 6-8
Sep 9, 2024, 08:49 AM
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has condemned the elections held by Russia in the occupied region of Crimea, stating that they delegitimize Russia's political system. The elections, which took place from September 6-8, aimed to elect members for the Crimean parliament, Sevastopol’s municipal legislature, and local councils. The Ukrainian ministry warned that those involved in organizing these elections would be prosecuted. The international community, including the EU, UK, and Austria, has also rejected these elections, citing violations of international law and affirming their support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. On September 9, the European External Action Service condemned the elections, calling them another act of violation of international law.
