VisitUkraine Controls 1,000 Sq. Km in Kursk; Russia's Alaudinov Claims Control
Aug 13, 2024, 09:54 AM
The situation in Russia's Kursk region has seen significant developments following Ukraine's offensive, which began on August 6, 2024. Ukrainian forces temporarily controlled approximately 1,000 square kilometers of territory in the region. However, Russian forces, including the Chechen Akhmat unit led by Apti Alaudinov, have reported regaining control over much of the area. Alaudinov stated that most of Ukraine's troops and equipment have been destroyed, and efforts to clear remaining Ukrainian forces are ongoing. Ukrainian officials, however, maintain that they continue to conduct operations in the region, with General Oleksandr Syrskyi affirming that the situation is under Ukrainian control. Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting to discuss the situation in the Kursk region.
