VisitUkraine Bans Telegram on State Devices Over Security Concerns
Sep 20, 2024, 11:33 AM
Ukraine has imposed a ban on the use of the Telegram messaging app by government officials, military personnel, and critical infrastructure workers. The decision, effective from September 19, was made by the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity due to security concerns. The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine announced that the prohibition applies to all official devices to mitigate threats to national security. Exceptions are made only for individuals whose use of Telegram is deemed essential. The app, founded by Russian-born Pavel Durov, is considered a threat on state-issued devices.
