Oct 24, 2024, 11:40 AM
The United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has initiated a formal investigation into Google's partnership with the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic. The probe, which began in July, focuses on Google's planned $2.3 billion investment in Anthropic and whether it could restrict competition in the AI market. The CMA has set a deadline of December 19 for a Phase 1 decision on the matter. Google also signed a cloud deal as part of its investment.
