VisitUK and Germany Sign Historic Trinity House Defence Pact, Station Fighter Jets in Britain
Oct 22, 2024, 09:34 PM
The United Kingdom and Germany have signed a historic defence pact, marking a significant step in military cooperation between the two nations. The agreement, referred to as the Trinity House Agreement, is the most significant bilateral defence deal since the Lancaster House pact between the UK and France. This new pact will enable British and German forces to conduct joint military exercises on NATO's eastern border with Russia, particularly in Estonia and Lithuania. Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for defence industry cooperation and support for Ukraine. German fighter jets will be stationed in Britain to help protect the North Atlantic from the growing Russian threat. The deal is also seen as a move towards closer military and security ties between the UK and the European Union. John Healey also revealed details of 'Project Asgard' to get Britain's troops ready for 'war fighting' again.
