Ugandan marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei, who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics, is in critical condition after allegedly being set on fire by her boyfriend in Kenya. Cheptegei, who finished 44th in the Olympic marathon, suffered burns covering 75% of her body after being doused with petrol. She is currently receiving treatment at Moi Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. The incident occurred at her home in Trans Nzoia County, a region known for its elite training hubs. Police have confirmed the attack and are investigating the case as a severe instance of gender-based violence.
