VisitU.S. to Sanction Russia for Exceeding U.N. Oil Cap, 165,000 Barrels Shipped in March
May 2, 2024, 02:29 PM
Russia has been exporting refined petroleum to North Korea in quantities exceeding the United Nations Security Council's annual cap of 500 barrels, with more than 165,000 barrels shipped in March alone. This violation has prompted the United States to consider new sanctions. U.S. officials have indicated that these shipments from the Port of Vostochny could continue indefinitely. The U.S. is collaborating with international allies to respond to these breaches of U.N. sanctions, as stated by US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.
