Oct 30, 2024, 02:36 PM
The United States has announced a sweeping set of sanctions targeting nearly 400 individuals and entities across multiple countries, including China, India, and Turkey. These measures, finalized by the Treasury, State, and Commerce Departments, aim to curb Russia's ability to sustain its military operations in Ukraine. The sanctions include export controls on nine key precursors for riot control agents and a chemical weapon, and the addition of 40 entities to the Entity List, including Russian research institutions involved in chemical and biological warfare. The U.S. also targeted a network of sanctions evaders and imposed measures against dozens of Chinese, Indian, and Turkish targets. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the commitment to holding Russia accountable for its actions. The sanctions affect 275 individuals from 17 countries.
