VisitU.S. Requests Iraq to Close Airspace to Iranian Cargo Planes

The United States has requested that the Iraqi government close its airspace to Iranian cargo planes heading towards Syria and Lebanon. Washington believes these planes are transporting equipment, munitions, and personnel for Hezbollah and other Iranian-backed forces. The request comes amid concerns over increased weapons transfers by Tehran through Beirut and the Syrian border. Iraq has yet to respond to the request.
