VisitU.S. Imposes Sanctions on Entities and Individuals Linked to Yemen's Houthis
Jun 17, 2024, 02:56 PM
The United States has issued new sanctions targeting individuals and entities linked to Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement. The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated two individuals and five entities based in China, UAE, and Oman for facilitating weapons procurement for the Houthis. These sanctions aim to curb the Houthis' ability to acquire materials needed to manufacture advanced weaponry used in attacks against U.S. and allied interests. The Treasury Department highlighted the involvement of China-based entities in providing drone and conventional weapons components to the Houthi movement. Additionally, OFAC is sanctioning nine individuals and entities, and has identified one vessel involved in these activities.
