This change is driven by national security concerns. Pentagon Press Secretary Patrick Ryder stated that there is no evidence to support claims of alien visits to Earth. This statement was made during a regular briefing. In March, the Pentagon's Office of All-Domain Anomaly Resolution released a report detailing the U.S. government's activities related to the study of UFOs. The government is rebranding them as part of this new approach.
