VisitU.S. Confirms 3,000 North Korean Troops in Russia, May Join Ukraine War
Oct 23, 2024, 04:45 PM
The United States has confirmed that North Korean troops are present in Russia, with at least 3,000 soldiers transported by ship from the Wonsan region of North Korea to Vladivostok between early to mid-October. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated, "There is evidence that North Korean forces are present in Russia. What exactly they are doing? Left to be seen." These troops are undergoing training on drones and other equipment at various military facilities in eastern Russia. South Korean intelligence agencies have indicated that the number of North Korean troops could increase to 10,000 by December, and there are concerns they may be deployed to support Russia's war in Ukraine. White House spokesman John Kirby described the development as a "very serious" escalation and warned that if North Korean forces engage in combat in Ukraine, they will become legitimate targets for Ukrainian forces.
