The U.S. Justice Department has charged Vikash Yadav, a former Indian intelligence officer and employee of the Cabinet Secretariat—which oversees India's foreign intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)—with involvement in a foiled plot to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a U.S. citizen and leader of the Sikhs for Justice, in New York City. Yadav, who remains at large and is the subject of an FBI 'Wanted' poster issued on October 10, faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and money laundering. Co-conspirator Nikhil Gupta was previously extradited to the U.S. and is currently in custody. The charges were announced on Thursday.
