Two Loretto Hospital Execs Charged in $500K Embezzlement Amid COVID

Heather Bergdahl, a former executive at Loretto Hospital, along with another executive, has been charged with federal crimes for allegedly embezzling approximately $500,000 from the Chicago-based safety-net hospital during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis. Bergdahl was arrested in Houston just before boarding a flight to Dubai. The charges follow extensive investigations by Block Club Chicago, which have also led to other significant shakeups and FBI investigations at the hospital.
