VisitTwo Dozen Catholic Bishops Condemn Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony, Demand Apology
Aug 2, 2024, 09:29 PM
Several high-ranking Catholic bishops, including Bishop Robert Barron, Archbishop Paul Coakley, Bishop James Conley, Bishop Donald Hying, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, and Bishop Thomas John, have condemned the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony for mocking Jesus' Last Supper. The bishops, representing Christians globally, have demanded that the International Olympic Committee formally repudiate the blasphemous action and issue an apology to all people of faith. There are more than 2.5 billion Christians worldwide, and this act of bigotry and derision has sparked significant outrage among the religious community. The demand was made in a letter signed by two dozen Catholic bishops.
