VisitTurkey and Jordan Hold High-Level Talks; Fidan Declares Imminent Eradication of PKK/YPG

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, accompanied by General Yousef Al-Hnaity, Chief of Joint Staff, and Ahmad Husni, Director of General Intelligence Department, visited Ankara on January 6, 2025, to hold talks with Turkish officials. Safadi met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and National Intelligence Organization Director Ibrahim Kalin in a 3+3 format meeting. Discussions focused on regional security and the situation in Syria. Both sides emphasized restoring stability and security in Syria and supporting its new administration. They agreed on combating terrorism, with Fidan stating that the eradication of the PKK/YPG terrorist group in Syria is imminent, adding, "We will not allow PKK to gain strength under the pretext of fighting ISIS." Safadi stated, "Anything that threatens Türkiye's security also threatens the security of the region." The officials discussed cooperation in defense and counterterrorism efforts. Safadi and Fidan held a joint press conference following their meeting.
