VisitTua Tagovailoa Activated from IR, Leads Dolphins' First Opening-Drive TD in Return Against Cardinals
Oct 27, 2024, 05:04 PM
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and was officially activated from injured reserve on Saturday ahead of Sunday's home game against the Arizona Cardinals at Hard Rock Stadium. Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion in Week 2 on September 12, returned to the starting lineup for the first time since then. The team released quarterback Tim Boyle to make room on the roster, with Skylar Thompson serving as Tagovailoa's backup. On the opening drive, Tagovailoa completed five of six passes for 47 yards, leading the Dolphins on a 10-play, 64-yard drive culminating in their first opening-drive touchdown of the season, a one-yard run by Raheem Mostert. The offense, which had been averaging only 11.7 points per game without Tagovailoa, appeared revitalized. Fans at Hard Rock Stadium celebrated his return, chanting "Tua! Tua!" as he led the team down the field. Despite a fumble by Julian Hill near the goal line, which was recovered by Miami, the drive remained successful.
