VisitTSMC's Arizona Plant Matches Taiwan Yields in Trial Production, Full Production by 2025
Sep 6, 2024, 02:38 PM
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has achieved production yields at its Arizona facility that are on par with its established plants in Taiwan. This development, reported by Bloomberg, is an early indicator that TSMC's US project is on track to meet its targets, including the commencement of full production in 2025. TSMC is in line to receive a $6.6 billion grant from the Chips Act and a $5 billion loan, although no funds have been disbursed yet. The successful yields in trial production are significant given previous concerns about the efficiency of US facilities due to cultural conflicts and a lack of skilled workers.
