VisitTSA Sets New Record with 2.95 Million Screened in a Single Day on May 24

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) set a new record for the most travelers screened in a single day. On Friday, May 24, 2024, TSA officers screened 2,951,163 individuals at checkpoints nationwide, surpassing the previous record set on November 26, 2023. This milestone was achieved as the holiday weekend began, indicating a significant increase in air travel. The TSA also experienced its second busiest day on Thursday, May 23, 2024, with 2.89 million people screened. At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, TSA officers screened 111,000 passengers, employees, and crew members on Thursday, breaking the previous record of 104,174 set after the Super Bowl on February 4, 2019. This marks the most individuals screened by the TSA in 22 years.
