VisitTSA Screens Record 3 Million Travelers on July 7, 2024
Jul 8, 2024, 04:20 PM
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened a record 3,013,413 air travelers on Sunday, July 7, 2024, marking the highest number of passengers processed in a single day. This milestone surpasses the previous record set on June 23, 2024. The surge in travel comes in the wake of the Fourth of July holiday, reflecting a significant rebound in post-pandemic travel. Notably, nine of the ten busiest days in TSA history have occurred within the last six weeks. Major airports such as Denver International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport also reported record or near-record numbers of travelers screened. TSA officers were praised for their efficiency in handling the increased volume, ensuring smooth operations across the nation's airports. TSA agents screened 35 passengers every second, and travel is up by over 6 percent so far this year. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has been credited for facilitating smoother travel experiences.
