VisitTrump Vows to Let RFK Jr. 'Go Wild' on Health Agencies, Sparking Vaccine Safety Fears
Oct 31, 2024, 04:09 PM
Former President Donald Trump has promised Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a significant role overseeing public health agencies if he is re-elected. Kennedy, a known vaccine skeptic, stated that Trump has "promised" him "control of the public health agencies," including the CDC, NIH, FDA, and parts of the USDA, with the aim to "reorganize" them. Trump affirmed his intent during a rally, saying, "I'm going to let him go wild on health. I'm going to let him go wild on the food. I'm going to let him go wild on medicines." Trump's transition co-chair, Howard Lutnick, echoed Kennedy's intentions in a CNN interview, revealing that Kennedy wants access to federal health data to prove vaccines are unsafe and have them pulled from the market. Lutnick questioned the safety of vaccines, asking, "Why do you think vaccines are safe? They're not proven," and linked them to autism. Public health experts and researchers have expressed alarm at the prospect of Kennedy overseeing health policy, fearing that his leadership could undermine vaccine programs and jeopardize public health. Kennedy further emphasized his mission by stating, "I asked God for 19 years to put me in a position to end the chronic disease epidemic and bring health back to our children, and in August, God sent me Donald Trump." Additionally, Trump mentioned that Kennedy would "work on health and women's health," indicating his intent to involve Kennedy in health-related matters in a potential administration.
