President-elect Donald Trump is set to announce Sean Curran as the new director of the U.S. Secret Service, replacing Ronald Rowe, who has been serving as acting director since July 2024. Curran, currently the head of Trump's personal security detail, was with Trump during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. He is known for his close personal relationship with Trump and oversees a team of about 85 agents. The decision to appoint Curran comes after the Secret Service faced criticism for security lapses, including the Butler incident, which led to the resignation of the previous director, Kimberly Cheatle.
