VisitTrump's Inauguration Moved Indoors to Capitol Rotunda Amid Extreme Cold
Jan 17, 2025, 06:20 PM
President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony scheduled for Monday will be moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda due to forecasts of dangerously cold temperatures in Washington, D.C. Vice President-elect JD Vance will also be sworn in during the indoor ceremony. This marks the first time since Ronald Reagan's second inauguration in 1985 that the swearing-in has been relocated indoors because of extreme weather conditions. The decision means that the majority of ticketed guests will not be able to attend the ceremony in person. Plans for the inaugural parade are being adjusted, with discussions underway about holding it at the Capital One Arena. Trump emphasized safety concerns amid projected freezing temperatures and wind chills expected to reach single digits.
