President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to nominate former NFL star, Heisman Trophy winner, philanthropist, and U.S. Olympian Herschel Walker as the United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Walker, who unsuccessfully ran for a U.S. Senate seat in Georgia and campaigned for Trump in his home state, has been a long-time supporter and campaign surrogate for Trump. In his announcement, Trump praised Walker, stating, 'Herschel has spent decades serving as an ambassador to our nation's youth, our men and women in the military, and athletes at home and abroad.' Walker is also recognized as a successful businessman.
